The Fairtrade labelling organisation (FLO) is an international organisation that has set standards on pricing, working conditions, local sustainability & fair terms of trade for producers in the developing world.

The official Fairtrade Labelling organisation representative in the UK is the Fairtrade Foundation.

Everyone now recognises the Fairtrade mark on many agricultural products such as Coffee, Tea, Bananas & cotton. Unfortunately, fashion accessories such as shoes & handbags are not allowed to carry this mark as there are no standards yet available to certify the producers.

“This is not set to change until at least early 2009”.

We feel that this is unfair to many producers who follow fair trade principles & are members of International fair trade producer organisations such as IFAT (International Federation of Alternative Trade) or FTF (Fairtrade Federation of America).

Whilst we are not a member of any fair trade group ourselves, we can guarantee customers that our products are made according to fair trade principles.

As soon as the standards for certifying fashion accessory producers are set then we will apply to become members of the Fairtrade Foundation.
